Dr. Jalal Rezaei Noor, President of Qom University of Technology, stated in an interview with the Aqr News Agency that currently, two percent of the world's scientific output is related to Iran. This is noteworthy given that there are over 150 countries in the world, which means we bear a greater share of scientific contributions relative to our population. Thus, the borders of Iran are not limited to geographical bounds; we possess academic outputs and scientific added value that extend beyond borders and demographics. He added that the result of this level of scientific production is the scientific governance of the Islamic Republic of Iran at both the regional and global levels, a part of which is represented through scientific articles. The President of Qom University of Technology emphasized that the remarks of the Supreme Leader are indicative of the idea that the entire environment for the growth and advancement of faculty members should not rely solely on articles. Therefore, in addition to articles, practical and research projects, books, and high-quality printed scientific works such as notes and reports, mentorship and a teaching environment must also be considered in order for a professor and faculty member to attain a well-rounded personality. Dr. Rezaei Noor remarked that in the new version of the faculty promotion regulations, the Supreme Leader's insights have been anticipated, and this regulation is currently under review, discussion, and finalization. In the new regulation, the emphasis on articles has been diminished, while the discussions on the establishment of companies and knowledge-based activities, connections with industry, and other scientific activities such as conducting practical research projects, mentorship, and book publishing have been highlighted, which adjusts the narrative of faculty promotion through articles. He stressed the many challenges and efforts that have been faced over time to achieve this academic status globally and the two percent share of scientific output. He added that we are currently aiming to reach the number one position in the region by 2025, which requires more effort; this increased effort can be pursued in other domains, such as publishing documents in the form of articles and training outstanding students and researchers.
